Nearly half of the world’s population is on the internet.  Researching information, connecting with people they know, or even just for something fun to do. Social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) makes up a large part of that “fun”.  It has been reported that roughly 68% of the U.S. population are Facebook users.  How can this “fun” social media be used for business?  Social media can help a company create brand and product awareness as well as help them connect more directly with their potential customers.

With access to several different social media platforms, businesses have multiple options as to where they sell their products. Using these platforms to their advantage, they can boost sales further than just relying on customers to visit their stores.

How is that done?  Here are a few quick tips:

  1. Determine who your customers are and the best way to connect and interact with them.
  2. Create a trustworthy persona and engage in conversation.
  3. Connect and build relationships.
  4. Post often.

Choosing the right platform is only part of the battle. Once you have made the choice, you must develop a strong presence.  Posting multiple times a week will remind your followers that you are there. Doing this will increase the attention your business gets and eventually you’ll see the results in your sales!

Remember, people do business with people they like and trust.  Be that person!
